Candid of animal

When we shoot pets, some time they pose, as if they know that they are being photographed. We can follow same method you have written above but here comes the blend, where candid photography is kind of wild-life photography. Though less risk is involved compare to wild-life photography, it is like we are shooting birds. Hide behind something and shoot when the pet is unaware.
